Job Opening: Part-Time Village Clerk

The Village of Hammond, Illinois

The Village of Hammond is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the part-time position of Village Clerk. This role is responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical duties essential to the efficient operation of the Village.

Key Responsibilities:

Retrieve and process financial receipts from the bank.

    Collect and manage mail, including checking the drop box on the building.

    Monitor and respond to emails and phone messages as necessary.

    Accept and process utility payments.

    Prepare monthly reports and board meeting packets, as well as materials for other official meetings.

    Maintain and distribute the monthly village newsletter.

    Oversee monthly utility billing.

    Draft and revise ordinances as directed by the Village Board.

    Draft ordinance violation letters as needed.

    Serve as the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer, working in collaboration with the Village Attorney.

    Act as the Election Authority for the Village.

    Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Village Board.

Qualifications & Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to operate standard office equipment, including fax machines and copiers.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Previous administrative experience preferred.

Position Details:

Hours: 12 hours per week (specific days to be determined).

Compensation: Salary based on experience.
